The past few weeks have been pretty hectic. After Thanksgiving break, we had yet another family-filled weekend. Sunday was especially meaningful because MJ received a baby blessing—a cherished tradition in the LDS faith.
In this tradition, the father typically performs the blessing, which includes giving the baby their name and blessing them with a few special traits or qualities they can aspire to develop. Alongside the father, other men form a blessing circle around the baby. These men can include grandfathers, great-grandfathers, uncles, friends, or anyone the family considers significant.
It was a beautiful moment to celebrate MJ and feel the love and support of those who traveled long distances to be with us.
After our family departed on Sunday, we headed into the week feeling under the weather. All four of us were battling coughs, runny or stuffy noses, and general exhaustion. To make things more challenging, it was the end of my semester, and I had a final project due.
I spent Monday and Tuesday using any free time to work on the project, while Wednesday was mostly dedicated to recovering. Despite the tough week, I’m thrilled to share that I earned a 95% on my final project and a 93% in the class overall. This means I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA since returning to school after Lala was born!
Now that it’s Friday, I’m so excited for the weekend and the weeks ahead. Christmas is such a special time to celebrate the birth of Christ and enjoy time with family. Gift-giving is my love language, and I truly enjoy finding ways to make others feel appreciated.
However, our finances make it challenging to give the kinds of gifts I’d love to, so I put extra thought and care into the gifts I do give. It’s not about the price but the love and meaning behind them.
I’m looking forward to seeing the joy on my loved ones’ faces when they open their gifts, knowing each one was chosen with love. This season reminds me that it’s not about how much we spend, but about the connections we share and the gratitude we feel for one another. I can’t wait to make more special memories with my family in the coming weeks!
