Have you ever looked at your to-do list, your goals, or even your scripture study and thought: “I’m already so far behind—why bother?” I’ll be honest, that’s been me this past month. Between life, motherhood, and everything in between, the weeks slipped away and suddenly I realized I hadn’t written here in a while.

I’ve also fallen behind with my project—probably a good time to catch up. With school and my internship starting next week, I used the past two weeks after getting back from my much-needed cruise with my mom to pour all my energy into getting my home ready and organized for this coming (and final!) school year.

That trip was only a weekend away, but it was the perfect reset before a hard year ahead. It was also the first time I had been away from both of my girls for more than one night, which felt both strange and refreshing. I missed them like crazy, of course, but I also realized how important it is to step back sometimes and fill my own cup. Coming home, I felt lighter, more focused, and ready to face what’s next.

But even with that reset, reality set back in quickly. With projects still waiting on the computer and goals I had let slip through the cracks, the guilt started to creep in.

I felt guilty for slacking when I had set goals for myself this year—one of them being to post more often to grow this blog, and another to keep up with my scripture study. Both of those have fallen way behind.

But here’s what I’m learning: falling behind doesn’t mean failing. Life has seasons, and sometimes our hearts (and our families) need us more than our goals. God knows our potential, and He wants us to keep moving forward—even if it’s just one small step at a time.

In Mosiah 18:9, Alma invites us to “stand as witnesses of God at all times, and in all things.” That invitation isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency. It’s about showing up, choosing Him daily, and striving to be just a little better than we were yesterday. We won’t always get it right, but our effort matters.

So if you’re feeling behind—whether in your faith, your goals, or even the laundry—remember this: what matters most is that you keep trying. It’s the daily striving that builds strength, faith, and progress.

This is my reminder to myself (and maybe yours too): it’s never too late to start again. Whether it’s today, tomorrow, or next week, progress is still progress. Mama, you got this!
